The vehicle was approved in 2022 by Mountain View County, with $350,000 funded by the county under the current cost-sharing agreement.

Chief of the Didsbury Fire Department, Curtis Mousseau, underlined that the new vehicle will go a long way in helping the department, especially as it has seen an increase in calls for service.

“This new Rescue unit represents a significant investment by the two Councils…While also allowing us to meet the expected future growth needs of the Department.”

Mayor Rhonda Hunter and Councillors Bill Windsor and Dorothy Moore, along with Mountain View County Councillors Alan Miller and Greg Harris, joined the Fire Chief, alongside Deputy Chief Kyle Leeson to take a first look at the new truck.

“The unit is not only going to greatly benefit the Didsbury Fire Department and allow our firefighters to do their jobs even more efficiently, but it will make such a difference to anyone involved in an accident or any other incident where this truck will be used,” Mayor Hunter said.

Mountain View Councillor Miller underlined that the collaboration between the County and the Town of Didsbury showcases a dedicated partnership for joint fire protection services.

“This purpose-built truck is set to enhance emergency response capabilities,” he added.

Now that the unit has arrived, after being custom-built to meet Didsbury’s specific needs, the Department will spend a couple of weeks moving equipment and radios from the old truck, which has been sold, to the new one; ensuring that it is ready for use.
