There are over two million dollars in unclaimed lottery prizes and time is running out to claim the cash.
According to the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC), DAILY GRAND, LOTTO MAX, LOTTO 6/49, WESTERN 649, WESTERN MAX, POKER LOTTO, EXTRA, KENO and PICK tickets expire one year from the draw date.
Currently, two lottery tickets, each worth one million dollars were won outside of the large metro centres of Calgary and Edmonton, which means Airdrie residents might be the winners.

Three more lottery tickets, worth over $234,000 were also won outside of the large metro centres of Calgary and Edmonton.

Checking older lottery tickets, recently led one Okotoks man to find that he had won $100,000 from a LOTTO MAX and EXTRA ticket he purchased in August. When he found the tickets, Leonard Visser found decided to scan them out of curiosity.
“I didn’t believe it!” he laughed. “It feels surreal.”
Visser says he’s still making plans for his big win, but likely won’t put off checking his tickets this long again.
“I was so surprised, and I am very grateful,” he said as he claimed his prize.
According to the WCLC, unclaimed prizes on national games are returned to players through guaranteed Jackpots and Bonus draws. Unclaimed prizes on regional games are returned to the member provinces and territories as revenue.
